Sustainable Development Goals

We Play’s aims and vision relate to the Sustainable Development Goals (SGD’s), in particular:

SDG 3: ‘Ensuring healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.’ Having accessing to an accessible and safe playground to move, exercise and play is a vital component to ensuring healthy lives for younger children.

SDG 4: ‘Quality Education’. Obtaining a quality education is the foundation to creating sustainable development, and We Play is committed to include a small library as part of its playground in order to give a safe space for young children to read and learn.

SDG 5: ‘Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.’ Through providing access to young girls a safe space to play, flourish and educate themselves, We Play plays a part in empowering girls and young women.

SDG 11: ‘Making cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.’ And in particular target 11.7: ‘By 2030, provide universal access to safe, inclusive and accessible, green and public spaces, in particular for women and children, older persons and persons with disabilities’.

In addition, We Play is committed to fulfilling article 31 of the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child (OHCHR), under which it is the right of the child to rest and leisure, to engage in play and recreational activities appropriate to the age of the child and to participate freely in cultural life and the arts.
